We've had a little over a week now to check out the redesigned Ruff Wear Palisades pack. Ruff Wear took a great pack and made it even better. The new version sports a slimmer profile, greatly improved water bladders, a compression system, removable saddle bags, and new weather-resistant zippers.
The compression system and removable saddlebags are two solid features that carried over from the last design. The Palisades pack is now built on the redesigned Web Master harness.
The water bladders in the previous version were the only bad thing about the pack in our minds. They were tough to fill, tough to drain, and nearly impossible to clean. That has been completely corrected in the new version. The bladders are easily removable and resemble a Camelbak style bladder. Additionally, they now have a hose for easy bowl filling on the trail.
Like a high end human pack, the Ruff Wear Palisades Dog Pack now features weather-resistant zippers on all pockets. The pack comes in three sizes fitting dogs with girths from 21" - 48" and has capacity from 610 cubic inches (10 liters) in the small to 1098 cubic inches (18 liters) in the large size.
This pack remains our top favorite for backcountry adventures. All three sizes retail for $99.95, Backcountry K-9 has the Palisades Pack for $94.99.
